4 Years 6 Months AME Programme

Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), Ministry of Civil Aviation, Govt of India issues "Certificates of Airworthiness" to all aircraft which are always in a fully serviceable condition and safe for operation.

To certify an Aircraft as "Air-Worthy"; Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul are carried out as per schedule or some unscheduled. Only qualified personnel called Aircraft Maintenance Engineers or Aircraft Engineers who are issued a Licence are permitted to expedite such work. Aircraft Maintenance Engineers or Aircraft Engineers is a niche group of Engineers who are approved by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), Govt. of India.

The course is organised in 4 years and 6 months in a joint venture between Hindustan Aviation Academy approved DGCA CAR 147 (Basic) B1.1 (Aeroplane Turbine) / B2 (Avionics) Maintenance Training Organisation and Airworks India Engineering Private Limited, (Hosur Aerodrome) approved Aircraft Maintenance Organisation.  

With the recent FDI policies favouring Civil Aviation, Skill Development initiatives and Make In India programmes, the opportunities in the Aviation sector has increased and such programmes guarantee employment for all suitable candidates.

The Programme

This unique programme is explained in Stages

Stage - 1 - (Basic Knowledge Training) 2 years 

The student must complete the Basic Knowledge Training as per DGCA CAR 147 Basic course in B1.1 (Aeroplane Turbine) or B2 (Avionics) consisting of a minimum 2400 hrs (theory & practical) i.e., 2 years at the MTO. Students are required to complete module examinations conducted by the DGCA tentatively in 4 sessions per year B1.1 = 11 modules and B2 = 10 modules.

Stage - 2 - (Basic Practical Maintenance Experience) 2 years 

The student must undergo Practical Maintenance Experience and Training for a period of 2 years at the AMO (Airworks), all tasks performed by the student will be entered in a Personal Experience Log Book which must be duly signed and sealed by the Quality Department / Supervising Engineer.  Those students who have not completed their Basic Module examinations in Stage 1, may utilise this time to complete all their DGCA Basic Module examinations.

Upon completion of Stage 2, the MTO (HAA) and AMO (AWI) will select a few candidates based on their academic performance, attitude, practical knowledge, character and workmanship and offer a "Contract of Employment".

Stage - 3 (Type Rating on Airbus A320 or Boeing 737 narrow-body aircraft)

The student will undergo a Type Rating course on the aircraft as per their choice and based on the availability of the aircraft at that time for a period of 40 to 45 days (incl of Theory, Practical and Assessment).

Stage - 4 (Structured On-Job-Training) 6 months

The student must undergo a rigorous 6 months of Structured On-Job-Training (SOJT) on the type of aircraft he/she has completed their Type Rating. The students who have been selected and offered a "Contract of Employment" will be earning during these 6 months duration.

Stage - 5 - Submission for License to DGCA

The student must submit all necessary documents like pass certificates of all Module Examinations (for B1.1 / B2), Personal Experience Logbook showing 2 years work experience or more, Type Rating certificate and 6 months SOJT experience to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation for the final application of B1.1 / B2 Type Rated Engineer's License.

Eligibility

Anybody with a passion for Aeronautics and any of the below academic qualifications -

  1. Passed 12th STD with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics or
  2. 3 years Diploma (any engineering stream approved by DTE & AICTE) or
  3. It's equivalent to any of the above

 

Placements

All students of 4 years 6 months course are assured employment in the top Airlines and MRO across the world. First preference to companies within India. Students with exceptional academic and character record are offered “Contract of Employment” at the end of 4th year.

Indigo and Airworks India Engineering Pvt Ltd have long term agreements with HAA for Training and developing Aircraft Engineers.

Most of our students are already well placed in the public sector including Defense aviation and private sector of the Aviation Industry. For e.g., Indian Air Force, Indian Army, Hindustan Aeronautics Limited, Airworks India Engineering, Indigo, SpiceJet, GoAir, Vistara, Singapore Airlines, Emirates, Etihad, Qatar Airways, Gulf Air, Saudia Airlines, Cathay Pacific, Malaysian Airlines, KLM, British Airways and some OEMs like Airbus, Boeing, Rockwell Collins, Thale, Pratt & Whitney, GE, Bombardier and all other Aviation related companies.

Above all, the student must be determined and motivated to take up any amount of challenges involved in the Aviation industry by grooming himself / herself to be a disciplined, well-mannered and smart individual to be employed as a highly skilled / dedicated Licensed Aircraft Engineer.

  • Recent Stamp Size Colour Photograph in white-background – 10 nos,

  • Medical Certificate,

  • Transfer Certificate.
